From The Independent Florida Aligator:

College students know Kal Penn from movies and TV shows — as Kumar or Lawrence Kutner.

But Penn was at Pugh Hall on Saturday to talk to [University of Florida] students about Sen. Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president.

As a reminder, political discussions, endorsements, etc. should not be posted in our comments. Thank you.

From Reuters:

Television programs with medical and hospital themes get so many details wrong, according to a leading Italian medical group, that Italy's main broadcasters should refrain from airing them.

On the list of programs is House.

Kona Gallagher of TV Squad has more:

There's no word yet as to whether or not Italian broadcasters are actually taking this seriously and are planning on altering any of their programming, so for now at least, Italian viewers can get their fill of McDreamy, McSteamy, and the rest of the lot.

The Star-Telegram has an interview with Lisa Edelstein.

And what do you think Cuddy sees in [House]? “I think that she lives vicariously through him because she’s a very smart woman who is very successful as a doctor and has a great job and a wonderful position, but also has had less and less to do with the actual practicing of medicine as the years have gone by. So I think she’s excited by what he does and how he does it and she’s deeply frustrated by him at the same time.”

E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos has a couple of spoilers for the fifth season of House.

Cath: Hmmm...No House scoops lately? Come on, Kristin! We are starving for info!
Here is a warm nugget to sink your teeth into: Much to the chagrin of House/Wilson fans everywhere, it appears as though the show's cornerstone coupling is breaking up when House returns Sept. 16. Said Hugh Laurie: "Wilson comes to a bigger, broader realization that House is possibly a destructive force in his life; House isn't good for him, and as a result of that realization, Wilson decides to up sticks and leave." Booo! (Still, I'm highly doubtful this breakup is permanent. And by highly doubtful I mean, I have it on good authority.) ...

Thomas in Rhode Island: Hey, Kristin! What's the deal with the new guy on House? I am particularly intrigued by the new private investigator played by Michael Weston.
So is Hugh. He said of Michael's character: "House is so needy, so desperate, so curious, so unable to leave well [enough] alone that he actually takes the, frankly, unusual step of hiring a private investigator to see how Wilson is faring on his own. Who he's seeing, who he's with, is he happy? Is he not happy? It's an obsessive and frankly narcotic act, but it's a step he takes."

Here are some light spoilers for the upcoming season, care of TV Guide's Mickey O'Connor (highlight the text to see them):

At House's TCA session all I saw was Hugh Laurie, Robert Sean Leonard, Omar Epps and the "new team." Does that mean that Jennifer Morrison (Cameron) and Jesse Spencer (Chase) are no longer part of the show? — Kerry

Mickey: Very observant, Kerry, but I'm told their absence is not significant. Both Morrison and Spencer remain series regulars. In fact, an upcoming ep promises to shed new light on the couple.

Any romantic relationships for Dr. House this season? — Stephanie

Mickey: There's a rumor that he and Cuddy will stop circling and start canoodling this season, but you didn't hear it from me!

From EW.com's Michael Ausiello:

Question: What's up with the lack of House scoop of late? -- Janel
Ausiello: The show's been on hiatus this past month, so there's been nothing to report…until now. Sources confirm that Damages' Emmy-nominated Zeljko Ivanek has signed on to be House's latest patient of the week. His episode starts shooting later this month.

The Daily Mail has an interview with Hugh Laurie.

Another typically sunny morning on the set of House and, in the roomy reception area of the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro teaching hospital, lounges Hugh Laurie.

The character he plays, Dr Gregory House, has just been voted the second sexiest TV doctor ever - with George Clooney in top spot.

'Of course,' murmurs Sexy Doctor Number Two reverently as he turns to an imaginary shrine and bows. 'George Clooney. The governor. Naturally, I myself spend all of my time thinking about being a sex symbol...'

From the press release:

Available to U.S. audiences for the first time, Acorn Media announces the August 26, 2008 home video debut of Alfresco, a hilarious sketch comedy series that launched the careers of Oscar®-winner Emma Thompson, Golden Globe®-winner Hugh Laurie (House), BAFTA-winner Robbie Coltrane (Cracker, the Harry Potter films), Stephen Fry, Ben Elton, among others. The 2-volume boxed set includes all 13 episodes plus a bonus program, the series three-episode pilot. Alfresco showcases soon-to-be-famous talents, full of the energy, irreverence, and audacity of youth.

In the tradition of Monty Python's Flying Circus and Saturday Night Live, Alfresco brought hilariously inventive comedy to British TV in the 1980s. It also introduced an entire troupe of bright young talents—Emma Thompson, Hugh Laurie, Robbie Coltrane, Ben Elton, Stephen Fry, Siobhan Redmond, and Paul Shearer.

Wild and wacky, Alfresco serves up social satire and delightfully off-the-wall sketches that seem as fresh and funny today as when they originally aired. The laughs fly hard and fast, and no sacred cows escape the skewer when these versatile comic actors lampoon bureaucrats, Jesus freaks, self-righteous counterculturists, and even their own show. Now, for the first time, American audiences can enjoy every episode of this British comedy landmark.

You can pre-order it at Amazon.com.

Barbara Barnett of Blogcritics examines the ethics of Dr. Gregory House.

In the House, MD season three episode “Son of Coma Guy,” House's patient, Gabe Wozniak, ask him what last words he’d like to hear from his own father. House hesitates, but answers honestly, “I’d like him to tell me that I was right; that I did the right thing.” What does it mean, to do the “right thing?” It sounds lofty and idealistic — and completely unlike what most people (think they) know of Dr. House.
