Times Online has a long interview and feature on Hugh Laurie.

He saw a Vincent Black Shadow not long ago – “just breath-taking”. Motorbikes are a passion. He’s got a Yamaha in London and the Triumph in LA, which he rides “with a weird chauvinistic pride… I was watching Biker Build-Off and there was this Japanese custom bike designer called Shinya Kimura. You could tell within seconds he was a genius.” Laurie thought about buying one of Kimura’s bikes. “It was $26,000. I thought, ‘I can’t possibly justify that’, and then I thought, ‘Well, why am I doing this job?’” Did he buy it? “No. Something in me says you shouldn’t have toys.”

He has, however, bought a ping pong table. “That’s a real luxury.” Is he better than his children? “Er… I’m not bad actually,” he admits shyly. I say I thought he was supposed to be Mr Self-Deprecation. “Yes, I spoke to my shrink yesterday on the phone in LA – you have to have one before they let you in – and I mentioned I was doing this [interview]. I said, ‘I can’t bear going through the same f****** dance of despair. I’m just going to say what I feel.’ And he encouraged that. So yes, I’m quite good at ping pong.” But is he better than his children? “Er… that’s a parenting issue. If I announce publicly… Er… I’d better skip over that one.” His children, he says, are “an unending delight”.

"So this is 'Welcome Back Television,'" says House's Hugh Laurie. "Is this going to be one of those photos where they have a diagram with an outline of the people and numbers so you can identify everyone?"

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Fox has given the go ahead to a one hour pilot to a show called "Courtroom K" from House executive producer Paul Attanasio.

Attanasio penned "Courtroom" on spec and is executive producing the project, a darkly comedic courtroom drama in the vein of "House," which is set in a Milwaukee Superior Court and revolves around a judge, a prosecutor and a public defender.

Paramount Comedy, the Star-Ledger, People, BBC News, 4, stuff.co.nz and Monsters and Critics report on Hugh Laurie's interview with Radio Times magazine. In it, he offers a number of interesting quotes.

On not receiving work offers from the UK:

"The door slammed behind me, and that's it. There's a notion that I've sold out. Sold out what exactly? There's a peculiar British attitude that I took an oath I wouldn't be successful, and reneged on it."

On watching himself on House:

"I avert my eyes when my children have it on. I hate seeing myself, but it's even worse hearing my American accent ... I had no idea I sound so retarded, a dull monotone, full of clunking mistakes."

He admited to trying Vicodin in order to better understand his character.

"I wouldn't recommend it - we have to be careful. But then again, if you're not in pain it gives a floaty, pleasurable feeling."

Through March 14, posting figures to be light (perhaps, there will not be any posts) as I will be attending South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive in Austin, Texas. I have a book reading for my upcoming book, "Managing Online Forums" on the Day Stage at the Austin Convention Center on March 11 at 11:00 AM. So, by some odd chance, if you happen to be attending - please stop by.

I'll be around, but I am guessing that I will not find much time to post. I apologize, in advance, for this slow time.

Thank you for visiting DrGregHouse.com.

From Michael Ausiello:

Question: I'm dying for some House scoop. Seriously. I'll bake you cookies. — Lyaman
Ausiello: Good news: The two-part Super Bowl episode that got sidelined by the writers' strike will see the light of day this May. According to a Fox insider, the scripts will undergo a little tweaking and will now serve as this season's final two episodes. Series creator David Shore tells USA Today that in the second of those two, House will get in an accident and lose his memory of the preceding hours. "He'll be finding out what he's forgotten and its significance," says Shore. "Bringing his memory back is crucial." Gimme my cookies!
