From BuddyTV:

House came away with 18.1 million viewers and a 7.7 rating/19 share in the 18-49 adult demographic for the 9pm to 10 pm time slot. The Hugh Laurie-led ensemble medical dramedy surged on despite competition from ABC's Dancing with the Stars and NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which opened its ninth season.

The articles notes that it was the highest rated premiere in the 18-49 age category this fall, thus far and that it was the highest rated drama premiere that Fox has had in 7 years! It was also the highest rating House has had without some sort of help from American Idol.

Hollywood.com has an interview with Hugh Laurie.

HW: Did the Queen appear to know anything about the show?

HL: I don't know. She's just too damn professional to give it away! She is extremely good, I'll tell you. You can't tell. I'd like to think that I swim across there at some point, but I couldn't be sure of it.

Just a note: we'll be getting 3 episodes in a row to start off the season and then we'll have a break for 2 weeks, unfortunately, due to the baseball playoffs (this blow will be softened if the Yankees are playing :)).

Finally, the time has arrived! Tonight is the Season 4 premiere of House! Here is the preview, released by Fox:

WITHOUT THE HELP OF A TEAM, HOUSE SCRAMBLES
TO DIAGNOSE A WOMAN AFTER A BUILDING COLLAPSES ON HER
ON THE SEASON PREMIERE OF “HOUSE”
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, ON FOX

When an office building collapses, House has to work fast to diagnose a young woman, Megan, who survived the disaster. Due to her injuries, Megan’s only form of communication is blinking. House, without a team since Foreman and Cameron quit and he fired Chase, talks through his ideas with a janitor at the hospital. As Megan’s condition worsens, Cuddy puts pressure on House to hire a new team, but House defiantly ignores her, and Wilson resorts to desperate measures and hits House where he knows it will hurt. As House persists in diagnosing Megan by himself, he realizes that the case is not what it appears, and that solitude may not be the answer in the “Alone” episode of HOUSE airing Tuesday, Sept. 25 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (HOU-401) (TV-14 D, L)

As a bonus track to the House soundtrack, "Minnie the Moocher" by Band from TV has been released on iTunes. Hugh Laurie:

"There's about 50 versions of 'Minnie The Moocher' on iTunes and I'm afraid to say ours is the most popular… It was a real thrill… It's a funky version of it."

There's actually more than 50 versions, but it is currently the most popular one.

The Los Angeles Times has an article on Season 4, with quotes from the cast and crew.

THE Emmy statue would have gone so nicely with the surfboard.

But, really, who needs a stuffy old Emmy when the people who know what's hot have named you the Teen Choice TV Actor? Hugh Laurie has two Golden Globes at home and has earned two Emmy nominations, but America's adolescents last month picked him over Matthew Fox, Wentworth Miller, Milo Ventimiglia and Jared Padalecki as their favorite male TV star on the awards show presented by Fox and Global TV.

Not bad for a 48-year-old, huh?

From Michael Ausiello:

Question: Please tell us something about House and Cameron! — Ostarbucko

Ausiello: I'll do ya one better —heh heh, I said "do ya" — and add Cuddy to the mix in a way that you may never have imagined (but Friday Night Lights fans probably easily can). To that end, I give you a brief transcript of my red-carpet chat with exec producers Katie Jacobs and David Shore. Helpful hint: It's more fun if you get a couple of friends and read it aloud together.

Me: My readers would kill me if I didn't ask about House and Cameron. And House and Cuddy. What can you give me? Something? Anything?
David Shore: Something's happening between House and Cuddy.
Me: That's something!
David: We haven't given up on House and Cameron, either.
Me: Would you rule out a threesome?
David: Would I, right now?
Me: Not the three of us, no.
Katie Jacobs: In principle, I don't ever think you could ever rule out a threesome.
David: Katie has strong views on that.
Katie: Well, this is House.

There you have it, folks. Infer what you will. Just remember, the bar had been open since noon.

Question: I'm dying for some scoop on House. — Rachel Moore

Ausiello: I have — brace yourself — seen the first two episodes of the new season, and they are awesome. Although we all know that Cameron, Chase and Foreman will eventually wind up back at the hospital, I was shocked to find out that not a single one of them makes an appearance in Episode 1. Even more surprising, when we do see them in Episode 2, and more significantly, when House sees them, he thinks they are figments of his imagination. (And you thought you were going to miss them.) By the end of the hour, however, Cameron is revealed to be the real deal, and House, bittersweet-talker that he is, has resumed their flirtatious exchange in exactly the manner you'd expect of him. It's hysterical.

The Star has an interview with Jesse Spencer:

IT IS never a good thing to start a conversation with an actor by asking a personal question; especially when he is Jesse Spencer, who has been in the news maybe twice – when he got engaged to his House MD co-star Jennifer Morrison, and when the couple announced the engagement was off.

The lack of publicity on Spencer’s life suits him fine. After all, the 28-year-old has managed to exist below the radar even though he has been acting professionally since he was 12 in his homeland, Australia, and then in Britain since he was 17.

The winners of the 2007 Emmy Awards were announced last night. Let's just say they didn't go how we wanted - House didn't win in any of the 2 categories that it was nominated in. Yet again, Laurie walks away with no Emmy.

In the category he was nominated in, Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series, they gave the award to James Spader of Boston Legal. House had been nominated in the Outstanding Drama Series category, but lost to The Sopranos.

Also, I didn't mention this in my entry on the Creative Emmys, but the other category House was nominated for had been decided as part of those. It was Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series with David Morse (as Michael Tritter) nominated. He lost to John Goodman (as Judge Robert Bebe) on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

Not a great night for House (or the Fox network). But, at least we got the makeup award, right?

I was just watching the Fox NFL Sunday pregame show and they were running some cross promotional stuff since Fox is showing the Emmy Awards tonight. They worked the names of nominated shows into the opening part of the program. They said something like "Can Calvin Johnson and the Lions protect their house?" And then they showed the House M.D. logo.

Lynn reports the following spoiler from the September 14 issue of Entertainment Weekly.

The article infers that all Chase, Cameron and Foreman will all be returning to the hospital. Chase in surgery, Cameron in the ER and it doesn't say what for Foreman, just that he will have been working at another hospital.

From Tom O'Neil:

Laurie was actually the early first choice of several top Fox exex, who lobbied strongly for him to get the job, according to a TV academy source. Others tubthumped for Seacrest, who's a logical choice since he already hosts America's most popular regular TV program plus specials like New Year's Eve countdowns. The standoff at the network was to blame for any host being named so late. Last year Conan O'Brien's appointment was unveiled in mid-May — three months before the Seacrest announcement this year.

Shame. Nothing against Seacrest (I don't watch Idol), but Mr. Laurie would have made a great host.
