From Fox:
HOUSE IS SHOT BY A FORMER PATIENT
AND MUST SHARE A RECOVERY ROOM WITH THE GUNMAN
ON THE SEASON FINALE OF "HOUSE"
TUESDAY, MAY 23, ON FOX
As House and his team work on the diagnosis of Vince, a man with a giant swollen tongue, disgruntled former patient Jack Moriarty (guest star Elias Koteas) walks into House's office and shoots him. House continues to treat Vince from his hospital bed in the ICU with Moriarty, shot by hospital security and handcuffed to his bed, as his roommate. Mysteriously since the shooting, House feels decreased pain in his leg. However, aftereffects of the shooting begin to affect him negatively and he starts to question his own ability to diagnose, while hostility increases between him and Moriarty. As Vince's body begins to deteriorate, House struggles through his own self-doubts and must trust his team to find a way to solve the case in the "No Reason" episode of HOUSE airing Tuesday, May 23 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). From the Detroit Free Press:
"In some way, Hugh's a lot like House, though he's got the British accent and is far more sensitive to people's feelings," she says. "They're similar in that they both seem to know everything. Hugh's obviously read every book and seen every movie and traveled to every country. Fortunately, he doesn't use his intelligence to look down on people the way House does."

Fox has announced their primetime schedule for the fall of this year and January of next. House remains in the 9 PM - 10 PM timeslot on Tuesdays. In the fall, it will follow a new show called "Standoff":
In January 2007, it will, once again, follow the American Idol performance show.
STANDOFF (Tuesdays, 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT - in fall): There's no crisis situation they can't handle ... unless it involves each other. MATT FLANNERY (Ron Livingston, "Sex and the City," "House") and EMILY LEHMAN (Rosemarie DeWitt, "Cinderella Man") are the top-ranked negotiators in the FBI's Crisis Negotiation Unit (CNU). They're trained to talk their way through volatile situations. They're experts at knowing what makes other people tick. They're also sleeping together … a secret that they agreed to keep to themselves, until Matt reveals it to the entire world during a tense hostage standoff. The public revelation causes friction between Matt, who relies on gut instinct, and Emily, an academic who analyzes every move. Their relationship also gets them into major trouble with their boss CHERYL CARRERA (Gina Torres, "Alias," "Firefly," "24"), head of the Los Angeles CNU, and raises eyebrows among their CNU colleagues, including intelligence officer LIA MATHERS (Raquel Alessi, "Ghost Rider"). While Matt and Emily really should be split up for being romantically involved, they're too valuable as a team. STANDOFF combines the relationship banter of audience favorites like "Moonlighting" with the adrenaline-paced suspense of hits like "24." The series advances a fundamental idea: that in life and in love, "Everything is a negotiation."

ON "HOUSE" TUESDAY, MAY 16, ON FOX
D.B. Sweeney Guest-Stars
A 16-year-old female Hurricane Katrina victim suffering from hallucinations about the tragedy is brought to House by his ex-bandmate Crandall (guest star D.B. Sweeney, who tells House he recently found out she's his daughter. House takes the case despite feeling more pain than usual in his leg. He wants to run a paternity test to make sure his friend is not being scammed, but Crandall refuses. As the team treats the patient, House still has his suspicions, and when her treatment requires a bone marrow transplant, Crandall offers himself up, but must be tested to see if he's a match (while still refusing the paternity test). As House works his way through the girl's lies to find clues to diagnose and treat her, he is forced to tell some lies of his own. Meanwhile, Cuddy asks House to review two medical files, and it doesn't take long for him to figure out that she's looking for a sperm donor. But House takes the search a step further and sets Cuddy up for a big surprise in the “Who's Your Daddy?” episode of HOUSE airing Tuesday, May 16 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). (HOU-223) (TV-14 L)

From The New York Daily News:
Black Adder was a British comedy that featured Hugh Laurie.
On a recent episode of "House" on Fox, Hugh Laurie's Dr. House was flipping through his TiVo list of recorded programs, looking for something to watch.
"All episodes of 'Monster Trucks' and 'New Yankee Workshop,' but there was one other saved show," notes Ken Dashow, home watching "House" after his afternoon deejay duties on Q104.3-FM. He and Barry Jacobs of Brooklyn independently caught the single entry of "Black Adder."

MSNBC's Stuart Levine says that House needs to make some changes. Chiefly:
So, what do you think? Do you want to know who Cameron is dating? I don't know...
Certainly there doesn’t need to be a parade of sex-crazed doctors sleeping with one another every week — this isn’t “Grey’s Anatomy” — but if “House” strives to be more than a one-note medical mystery show, then it might be time to move the young and eager docs out of the ICU. To find out what’s really ailing patients, House is often sending his team into the homes of dying patients. But what mysteries are found in the abodes of his own colleagues?
Show off Dr. Cameron's personal side more often. Who is she dating? What are the complications of those relationships? Dr. Foreman’s father arrived at the hospital as a patient in a handful of the remaining episodes of this season. This brings up some childhood issues that Foreman’s been grappling with. Delve into them.
And poor Lisa Edelstein. She’s House’s superior but he’s constantly demeaning and abusing her emotionally. Why does she stand for this? If her doctoring skills are as bad as House believes — whenever she makes a diagnoses he immediately dismisses it — why is she seeing patients? Is she an administrator or clinician? Go one way or another.

John Doyle has an interview with David Shore:
Q. When you have time, what TV shows do you watch for personal pleasure?
A. I love TV. I was the kid who watched way too much TV. I was the only kid who wasn't wasting his time playing; I was actually prepping for my career. And I think television right now is maybe as good as it's ever been. There are a shocking number of smart one-hour television shows. I'd name them all, but the only show your readers should be watching is 24. I mean House. The odd time that I get a chance to catch a movie, I frequently walk out realizing that I could have stayed home and seen a better story, better told by just turning on the TV. Movies have too often become about the event while television is almost always about the story.

05/05: Season Finale Spoiler
Posted by Patrick
From Maureen Ryan (highlight to read):
Via Cory Aldrich.
Jacobs adds that the finale is “really a departure for us. It’s a very different episode, not unlike an [Emmy-winning] episode we did last year called ‘Three Stories.’ [Creator] David [Shore] has written and directed the finale, and it is a different way of storytelling for us. … You might wonder whether House ever struggles with whether or not he’s doing the right thing in the way that he behaves toward patients. And this episode will sort of deal with the struggle that goes on inside House’s head.”
